You are the one in charge.

Everything below exists to make that mean something practical rather than being a nice line on a website. It is a list of things you can hold us to.

What we promise

  • We meet every proA real conversation, in person or on video, before anyone is listed. We do not accept sign-ups automatically.
  • Background checkedEvery pro passes a criminal background check before their profile goes live, and again each year.
  • Plain-language pricingRates are posted on every profile. Pros agree to quote before they start and to call you before any work goes over the quote.
  • We hold the money until you are happyYou pay Techbud.Net, not the pro. Nothing is released until you tell us the job was done right. If something is off, a person here works through it with both of you until it is settled fairly.

How we check a pro

Nobody appears on this site by filling in a form. Every listing has been through all four of these.

  1. We meet themIn person or on video. We want to know how they explain things, because that is most of the job when the customer is nervous.
  2. Background checkA criminal background check before the profile goes live, and again every year. Nobody is exempt because they came recommended, and nobody is listed here without one.
  3. We check the claimsCertifications get verified with the body that issued them. Insurance gets verified with the insurer. Years of experience gets a conversation.
  4. They sign up to the rulesQuote before starting. Call before going over. No upselling things people do not need. Plain language. A written note of what was done.

Your money

You never hand cash or a card to a technician standing in your home. You pay Techbud.Net, and we hold it.

Nothing is charged before you agree to a priceThe pro works out what is wrong and quotes you. You can say no, at no cost, right up to that point.
We hold the money while the work is doneThe technician knows it is there. They also know they cannot touch it yet.
It releases when you say the job is doneUsually within a day of you telling us. If you say nothing at all, it releases after 3 days so an honest pro is not left unpaid over a missed email.
If something is wrong, tell us before it releasesWe freeze it and a person here gets on the phone with both of you.

When there is a disagreement

We are honest with you about this, because a page that promises you always win is a page that is lying.

If you tell us the work was not done properly, we hold the money and we call both of you. Most disagreements turn out to be about what was included rather than about the work itself, and they are settled the same day.

Where it is genuinely our pro’s fault, the outcome is a return visit at no charge, a partial payment, or your money back.

But we also work to see the technician paid for work they actually did. They are small independent businesses, and a platform that lets people take free labor by complaining is one where the good technicians leave and you are left with nobody worth calling. We look at what was agreed and what was delivered, and we tell both sides plainly what we think.

What gets someone removed

This applies to technicians and to customers. Both sides are here on the same terms.

A pro is removed for

  • Selling something the customer did not need
  • Going over the quote without calling first
  • Failing or refusing a background check
  • Talking down to a customer
  • Asking to be paid outside Techbud.Net
  • Giving us false information about themselves or a job

A customer is removed for

  • Claiming work was not done when it was
  • Giving false information to avoid paying
  • Inventing a fault to get a refund
  • Trying to hire a pro off-platform to dodge the protections
  • Abusive behavior toward a technician in their own home
  • Repeatedly booking and not being there

Giving false information, on either side, is grounds for being banned from Techbud.Net on its own, regardless of anything else. The whole thing runs on people telling the truth about what happened.

Something gone wrong?

Tell us. We would far rather hear about it than have you quietly never come back.
