How it works
The short version: it is free to look, you agree to the price before anything happens, and the technician does not get paid until you say the work was done.
Find someone, or let us find them
You can browse the pros yourself and pick whoever you like the look of. Or you can fill in one short form describing the problem in your own words, and we will do the matching.
Either way it is free, there is no account to create, and there is no obligation to go ahead.
The pro looks at the job and quotes you
Before anything is charged, the pro finds out what is actually wrong and tells you what it will cost. Sometimes that takes a phone call, sometimes they need to see it.
Nothing is charged while this is happening. If you do not like the number, you walk away and that is the end of it.
You pay Techbud.Net, not the technician
Once you have agreed to the price, you pay us. We hold the money.
This is the part that matters. Nobody is standing in your kitchen holding your computer and asking for cash. The technician knows the money is there, and you know they cannot get it until the job is done.
The work gets done, the way you chose
That might be someone at your kitchen table, or a Zoom call where they talk you through it while you do the clicking. You pick. Every profile says which of the two that pro offers. Nobody on Techbud.Net takes control of your computer for you.
If the job turns out to be bigger than expected, the pro has to stop and call you before carrying on. They cannot quietly run up the bill. The amount is already fixed with us.
You say the job is done, and we pay them
You tell us it was done right, and we release the money to the pro within 2 business days. We keep 15%, which covers card processing, holding the funds, the vetting, and sorting it out when a job goes wrong.
If we do not hear from you either way, the money releases automatically after 3 days. That is there so an honest technician is not left unpaid because someone forgot to reply.
Why we hold the money
Because the worst moment in a home computer repair is the one where you are standing there with your wallet out, not sure whether the job was actually done, and not wanting to make a fuss. That moment is when people get overcharged.
Taking the money out of the room fixes it. You are not haggling with someone in your house. You say the word, and we pay them. That is what the crown over the u means.
Common questions
What does Techbud.Net cost me?
Nothing extra. Searching and being matched is free. When you pay for a job, you pay the price you agreed to with the pro. Our 15% comes out of the pro's side, not on top of yours.
What if I am not happy with the work?
Tell us before the money releases and we will hold it. Then a person here talks to both of you and works out what happened. Usually it is a misunderstanding about what was included, and it is sorted the same day. The outcome might be a return visit, a partial payment, or a full refund, whatever is actually fair.
Do you take the customer’s side automatically?
No, and you would not want us to. A technician who does good work and then gets stiffed leaves the platform, and then there is nobody good left to call. We look at what was agreed and what was delivered, and we say plainly what we think.
Can it be done over Zoom instead of someone coming out?
Yes, if the pro offers it. Many do, and it is often cheaper because there is no travel. On a video call you stay at your own computer and they watch and talk you through it; nobody takes control of anything. It is the easiest way to be shown how to do something yourself, and it works for lessons, email trouble, phone and tablet questions, and most software problems. Anything physical, like a dead hard drive, a Wi-Fi dead spot, or a printer that will not feed, still needs someone in the room. Use the "How would you like help?" filter on the search page to see who offers video calls.
Will anyone want to take control of my computer?
No. Techbud.Net does not offer remote-control fixes at all, so no pro listed here will ever ask you to install software that lets them drive your machine. On a video call you do the clicking and they guide you, so you keep control the whole time. If somebody contacts you claiming to be from Techbud.Net and asks for remote access to your computer, it is not us. Hang up and tell us.
Can I just pay the technician directly?
You can hire anyone you like. They are independent businesses. But if you pay outside Techbud.Net, none of the protection above applies, and we cannot help if it goes wrong.
Are these people Techbud.Net employees?
No. They are independent local businesses. We meet them, check them, list them, and handle the money. They do the work and carry their own insurance.
What if nobody near me does what I need?
Tell us anyway. We are still growing across the Coachella Valley and we would rather know what people are asking for than guess. Sometimes we know someone who is not listed yet.
